Parallel Attraction
by Deidre Knight
Pros: Most original premise I’ve seen to date
Cons: A bit of love at first sight
The premise of this book (and series) is probably the most original I’ve seen since I began reading paranormal romances. Parallel Attraction is set on Earth, present day. What we don’t know is that there are aliens who have been living here for the last couple hundred years to help protect us from yet more aliens who have also been here, hoping to take over our planet and use our bodies as hosts for their ethereal selves.
Jared Bennett is the exiled King of Refaria and the leader of the rebel base here on Earth. In addition, his mission is to protect the completely clueless humans from the evil Antousians who are also on our planet.
He meets Kelsey, a geologist, and despite her being a human – and therefore a completely different species – they find themselves incredibly attracted, almost bound together from the first moment.
Ms. Knight has created a very detailed, interesting and original story, filled with action, creative plot twists and plenty of hot, steamy romance. Although Jared and Kelsey’s relationship is pretty much an obviously foregone conclusion, nonetheless, the story is very engaging, keeping the reader wondering what is going to happen next.
Aliens, time travel, shape-shifting, sexy, alpha heroes and spunky, smart-mouthed heroines – this book has it all. I look forward to reading the rest of this series as soon as possible!
