You MUST read the first book 'Touch the Dark' first to understand anything about this one The 'world' is interesting and new. The possibilities are endless to where it could go from here...vampires, fey, mages and Cassie with new magical powers and responsibilities. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out, although I must admit I liked 'Touch the Dark' a little better than this one, it is still one of my favorite series' The only other negative thing I could say is that the books are NOT stand alone. You have to start at the beginning or you will get bogged down and lost. However, that being said, I think its worth giving a try.
